Spuffy - A Short Analysis (mentions Delena & Chair briefly)
Okay, I’m going to start this by saying that yes, I am a Spike and Buffy shipper. I think it’s important for me to disclose that in case someone sees this as biased, but I’m not going to ignore the really dark parts of Spuffy - which I feel like a lot of shippers do. This will be a full analysis of the good and the bad (at least the parts I can remember). To be honest, part of why I feel the need to do this is because I see a lot of comparisons online with Delena and Chair and the connection between these couples and “abuse.” I am a Delena shipper as well (though I love, love, love stelena), and I despise Chair with all that is inside of me. Again, this feels important to mention because of what I am going to say here. As for Delena, they follow a similar pattern to Spuffy, but for me (as much as I honestly love them) they will never ever compare to Spuffy. I believe that in the end Damon will truly redeem his wrong doings for Elena, but it is really hard to compare them when VD allows for the humanity switch to so easily be turned on and off - that is why I have trouble comparing them. I believe Damon turned his humanity switch on for Elena, but unlike with what I will later mention with Spike, the VD writers often have Damon relapse back into his darkness and don’t allow him to come out. I truly hope that he continues to change for Elena and that the change sticks. But we’ll see.
